Ah, Jan Juc beach; just next to Torquay, separated from each other by Spring Creek, my nemesis! Growing up I used to overhear the cool kids at school talk about travelling down the coast together to surf at Jan Juc. I was never invited. In fact, at that time, I wasn’t even too sure where Jan Juc was. But, it sounded so awesome, so free; I would have loved to have been invited. Kids can be so cruel to each other; without even realising. I don't think I ever got over that exclusion. Until now. Drawing this view of Jan Juc has somehow eased the pain felt by my 14 year old self that I had unwittingly carried all these years. Standing on Jan Juc beach, between the outstretches of Bird Rock and Rocky Point ,has been like a healing hug 🙂
